In September 2025, the German Freight Village Association (Deutsche GVZ-Gesellschaft mbH) published the fourth edition of its European freight village ranking, surveying more than 200 freight villages across the continent. Europlatforms has proudly supported the study and welcomes its timely insights into the evolving role of freight villages in Europe’s logistics landscape.

The results confirm a strong presence of Europlatforms’ member countries among the top-ranked terminals and reinforce the view of freight villages as central hubs for multimodal logistics. Over the past five years, the study has documented a clear progress in areas such as multimodal connectivity, digital services and operational efficiency, which are trends that strengthen the strategic relevance of these nodes for cross-border supply chains.

Our thanks go to all freight villages that participated and congratulations to the top-20 ranked hubs. Special thanks to DGG for producing this valuable benchmarking tool.

We look forward to the full report and to sharing further insights and implications for policy, investment and future strategic development of freight villages as backbones of the European logistics system.
